Former Congress leader and ex-MLA A.V. Gopinath has been nominated by the Kerala government to the Guruvayur Devaswom Board, which manages the Sreekrishna Temple. He is expected to be appointed as the board's new chairman. Gopinath and M.U. Shinija, also nominated by the LDF government, will take oath on Sunday. Gopinath was suspended from the Congress party in 2023 due to his participation in the LDF's 'Navakerala Sadas' programme and recently contested local elections with CPI(M) support but was defeated.
