A new political party, GNLF (Subashbadi), has been formed in Darjeeling by former associates of the GNLF's founder, Subash Ghisingh. The parent GNLF, now led by Ghisingh's son, was recently delisted by the Election Commission. The new party aims to uphold Ghisingh's ideology and secure Sixth Schedule status for the hills. The original GNLF plans to challenge the new party's name.
