
The Tamil Nadu government has released Rs 111.96 crore to compensate 84,848 farmers for crop damage on 1.39 lakh acres caused by the 2025 Northeast monsoon and Cyclone Ditwah. Earlier, Rs 289.63 crore was distributed for damage on 5.66 lakh acres affecting 3.60 lakh farmers. Agriculture Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam highlighted relief efforts totaling Rs 1,631.53 crore over four years, responding to criticism from opposition leaders and contrasting with previous administrations.
