Gauri Lankesh Murder Accused Shrikant Pangarkar Wins Jalna Municipal Election

Shrikant Pangarkar, accused in the 2017 murder of journalist-activist Gauri Lankesh, won the Jalna Municipal Corporation election in Maharashtra as an independent candidate from Ward No. 13, securing 2,661 votes and defeating BJP's Raosaheb Dhoble. Pangarkar was arrested in 2018 under multiple acts and granted bail by the Karnataka High Court in 2024. He previously served as a Shiv Sena corporator and later joined the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.
