LPG Use Increases as Ujjwala Beneficiaries Refill More Often, Minister Reports

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri highlighted the success of India's clean cooking initiatives, particularly the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), emphasizing increased LPG refill rates as a key indicator of impact. He noted that PMUY has provided 10.41 crore households with LPG connections, nearing the target of 10.60 crore. Daily refills for Ujjwala families average 13.6 lakh, with overall national daily deliveries exceeding 55 lakh cylinders. Average consumption per family has risen from 3 to 4.85 cylinders, demonstrating a shift towards cleaner cooking methods and improved dignity for millions.
