Bengali actress Parno Mittra has rejoined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) after leaving the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Mittra, who joined the BJP in 2019 and contested the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections on a BJP ticket, stated that her decision to join the BJP was a "mistake" and that she felt it was time to "rectify" it. She was welcomed back into the TMC fold by senior party leaders, with her return seen as a move to bolster the party's appeal ahead of the 2026 state elections.
