Unions Propose Medical Allowance Increase for Non-CGHS Central Government Employees

Ahead of the 8th Pay Commission's recommendations, central government employee unions have proposed increasing the Fixed Medical Allowance from Rs 1,000 to Rs 20,000 per month for those residing outside Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) areas. They cite rising healthcare costs and limited CGHS access in rural and remote regions as key reasons.
