Allahabad HC Upholds Wife's Maintenance at 25% Income; Chhattisgarh HC Grants Husband Divorce with Alimony

The Allahabad High Court upheld a Family Court's decision increasing a wife's maintenance to Rs 3,000 per month, ruling it can be up to 25% of the husband's income. The husband, a labourer, challenged the order citing limited earnings, but the court emphasized his legal duty to support his wife, who cannot maintain herself. Separately, the Chhattisgarh High Court granted a husband divorce and Rs 5 lakh alimony after finding his wife’s behavior, including insults and assault, constituted cruelty and desertion.
