The Darrang district administration has expanded the Garukhuti Multi Purpose Agriculture Project by adding 3,709 bighas of government land, bringing the total area to 11,279 bighas. The project, which began in 2023, aims to transform reclaimed land into a sustainable hub for agriculture, dairy, and fisheries. An additional 533 bighas have been allocated to the Fisheries Department for an Integrated Aqua Park. This expansion is attributed to the leadership of project chairman Padma Hazarika and MP Dilip Saikia, alongside the district administration's efforts.
