Mumbai Architects Express Concerns Over Coastal Road and Mahalaxmi Racecourse Redevelopment Plan

Around 119 members of the Mumbai Architects Collective (MAC) have raised concerns over the masterplan to redevelop open spaces along Mumbai's Coastal Road Project and transform the Mahalaxmi Racecourse into a central park. They warn the 298-acre project risks cost overruns, environmental damage, weak land governance, and limited public access. MAC highlights potential harm to Mumbai's natural water absorption and climate resilience due to proposed underground construction and increased parking, urging for integrated, sustainable planning.
