Tripura Bar Association Demands Removal of Consumer Commission President Over Misconduct Allegations

The Tripura Bar Association has resolved to boycott the court of Gautam Sarkar, President of the West Tripura District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, demanding his removal within three days. Lawyers allege misconduct, including misbehavior while intoxicated, which they claim has disrupted the Commission's functioning. Sarkar, a retired district and sessions judge, has faced similar allegations during previous postings. The Bar plans to meet the state Minister of Food and Consumer Affairs to press for his dismissal and will decide further action if no response is received.
