
Comptroller and Auditor General K Sanjay Murthy highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence and big data analytics in strengthening India's power sector. He noted significant progress over the past decade, with power generation rising from 1,168 BU in 2015-16 to an estimated 1,824 BU in 2025-26, and green energy's share increasing from 6% to 24%. Murthy emphasized the need to improve operational efficiency and financial sustainability of DISCOMs, while underscoring the sector's importance for India's economic growth and energy goals through 2047.
