Actor and TVK chief Vijay was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for over six hours on January 12 in connection with the September 2025 Karur stampede that killed 41 people. The CBI focused on crowd management, delays, and event arrangements during the political rally. Vijay denied responsibility, attributing the tragedy to local administration failures, and requested to defer further questioning until after the Pongal festival. The Supreme Court had transferred the case to the CBI, which continues its probe with multiple summons planned.
