Former AIADMK Minister C. Vijayabaskar Resigns as MLA Amid Party Dissent
Former AIADMK Health Minister and Viralimalai MLA C. Vijayabaskar resigned from the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on June 16, 2026, becoming the fifth AIADMK legislator to quit after the 2026 Assembly elections. His resignation, accepted by Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar, follows his support for the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) during a May confidence vote, against party directives. Vijayabaskar criticized AIADMK leadership, highlighting internal dissent and a lack of cadre support. Several other AIADMK leaders have also resigned and joined TVK amid ongoing party turmoil.
