Bengaluru's 148-km suburban rail project, approved in 2020 and initially set for completion by October 2026, has been delayed to March 2030. Revised timelines presented by K-RIDE at a PRAGATI meeting chaired by Prime Minister Modi set staggered deadlines for four corridors between December 2028 and March 2030. The delay, partly due to land acquisition and coordination with Namma Metro's airport line, drew criticism from the Prime Minister, who had earlier expected completion within 40 months.
