Himachal Pradesh's Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced a historic transformation in the state's tourism sector under the Congress government, emphasizing eco-tourism and economic growth. The government plans to open 77 new eco-tourism sites expected to generate Rs 200 crore over five years. Key projects include developing Pong Dam Lake as a major bird-watching destination with new attractions like shikara rides and floating decks, alongside promoting water-based adventure tourism at lakes such as Gobind Sagar and Tattapani. Sukhu contrasted this approach with the previous BJP regime, which he said neglected tourism and water resource utilization.
