Delhi High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya has declined former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's request to transfer the CBI's plea challenging the discharge of Kejriwal and others in the excise policy case from Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma to another judge. The Chief Justice stated the case was assigned according to the roster and any recusal decision rests with the presiding judge. Following this, Kejriwal and senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia have approached the Supreme Court seeking the transfer, citing apprehensions about impartiality. The excise policy case involves allegations of irregularities in Delhi's liquor policy, with the trial court previously discharging all accused and criticizing the CBI's investigation.
