Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students protested against a Supreme Court-accepted definition of Aravalli Hills, which excludes points less than 100 meters high from immediate relief areas. Students' unions, including JNUSU and AISA, voiced concerns that this definition, based on a Ministry of Environment committee's recommendations, could harm the environment. They argued it might increase regional temperatures, lead to desertification, and cause ecological imbalances, potentially benefiting private interests at the expense of natural habitats and trees.
