Around 500 para-teachers in Kolkata, organized by the Parsha Sikshak Oikyo Mancha, held a rally demanding a pay increase from Rs 10,000-13,000 to Rs 20,000-25,000 and inclusion in the Employees Provident Fund. Police stopped their march to the Chief Minister's residence due to lack of prior permission. The protest follows ongoing sit-ins and concerns over pay disparity and job security amid fallout from a 2016 recruitment scam affecting teaching posts in West Bengal.
