The Delhi High Court has criticized the police for routinely including the phrase 'haath mara' in FIRs concerning outraging a woman's modesty, deeming it a gross misuse of law. Justice Neena Bansal Krishna emphasized that FIR allegations must accurately reflect the complainant's statement, not standardized or unendorsed claims added by officers. The court directed the deputy commissioner of police to ensure such practices are corrected at the police station level to prevent fabricated allegations.
