India's Defence Procurement Board has approved the proposal to acquire 114 additional Rafale fighter jets from France, marking a significant step toward enhancing the Indian Air Force's combat strength amid declining squadron numbers. The deal, estimated at around Rs 3.25 lakh crore, includes transfer of technology and integration of Indian weapons and secure data links. The proposal now awaits clearance from the Defence Acquisition Council and the Cabinet Committee on Security, with finalisation expected during a meeting between Prime Minister Modi and French President Macron.
