The Maitree international bus service connecting Kolkata and Agartala via Dhaka resumed operations after an 18-month suspension caused by political turmoil in Bangladesh. The first bus arrived in Agartala with around 18-20 passengers, welcomed by Tripura Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and officials. The resumption is expected to enhance trade, tourism, medical travel, and cultural exchanges between India and Bangladesh, reflecting improving bilateral relations following recent diplomatic developments and the formation of a new government in Bangladesh.
