Karnataka CM Seeks Central Intervention for Bengal Gram Procurement Amid Price Drop

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has urged Prime Minister Modi and the Union Agriculture Minister to intervene as Bengal gram farmers face severe financial distress. Despite a Centre-declared MSP of Rs 5,875 per quintal for the 2026-27 rabi season, market prices in Karnataka range between Rs 4,260 and Rs 5,813, forcing farmers to sell below MSP. Siddaramaiah called for immediate approval of procurement under the Price Support Scheme and activation of central agencies to prevent further price collapse during peak harvest.
