The Supreme Court dismissed West Bengal government's plea against a Calcutta High Court order refusing to stay the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) probe into January violence in Murshidabad's Beldanga area. The NIA, directed by the Union Home Ministry, invoked section 15(1)(a) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) related to terror acts. The court upheld the high court's balanced view and advised the state to raise grievances there, allowing examination of the NIA probe's basis and the Centre's decision to order it.
