Japan Supports Connectivity Linking Northeast India to Bay of Bengal and Indo-Pacific Region

Japan's Deputy Foreign Minister Horii Iwao announced support for connectivity projects linking Northeast India to the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean region, highlighting the area's strategic role as a gateway to Southeast Asia. Speaking at the India-Japan Intellectual Conclave in Shillong, he emphasized Japan's commitment to regional development, including trade, infrastructure, and private-sector cooperation in semiconductors, clean energy, and economic security. This aligns with Japan's Free and Open Indo-Pacific policy and follows recent high-level diplomatic engagements between the two countries.
