Two Deported Bangladeshi Women Re-Arrested in Mumbai for Illegal Re-Entry

Mumbai Police arrested two Bangladeshi women, Zulekha Jamal Sheikh and Bilkis Begum Sirmiya Akhtar, who re-entered India illegally after being deported in August 2025. Sheikh was found near Gateway of India living on a footpath, while Begum was arrested in Cuffe Parade residing in a rented room. Both lacked valid travel documents and reportedly crossed back through forested border areas. Authorities are investigating possible networks aiding illegal crossings. The women face charges under the Foreigners Act and related laws and will be tried before deportation.
