
The three-day Maghi Mela, commemorating the martyrdom of the Forty Muktas, commenced in Sri Muktsar Sahib with lakhs of devotees participating. The event, which draws pilgrims for a holy dip and to pay respects, also marks the revival of political conferences after several years. Traditionally held in January due to water scarcity, the mela honors Sikh history and the Battle of Khidrana. Political conferences, a long-standing tradition, are resuming after a hiatus since 2018.
