Trinamul Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee has criticized West Bengal's Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls as politically motivated, citing low deletion rates compared to other states. He presented data showing 5.79% of voters deleted in Bengal, significantly less than states like Tamil Nadu (12.5%) and Gujarat (9.95%). Banerjee argued that despite these figures, West Bengal faces intensified scrutiny, and the narrative of numerous Rohingya and Bangladeshi voters has not been substantiated by the SIR process.
