The Election Commission of India (ECI) has rejected proposals to accept the Madhyamik (Class 10) admit card as a valid document for voter verification during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in West Bengal. The ECI reaffirmed its list of approved documents, which includes government-issued identity cards, birth certificates, passports, and Aadhaar as a supplementary document but not as standalone proof. Separately, notices have been issued to some voters, including retired officials, to attend hearings due to discrepancies in the voter list.
