Farmers and landowners from 28 villages protested against the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the district administration for failing to provide access roads to their fields across the Chandigarh-Ambala expressway. Protesters, who set a January 7 deadline, claim that despite multiple appeals, issues like service roads, drainage, and compensation remain unaddressed. The Road Sangharsh Committee threatened a permanent dharna from January 8 if demands are not met, alleging false complaints against farmers by the construction firm.
