Praising her dedication and simplicity, he highlighted her views on the 'culture of silence' as a form of cowardice rooted in greed. Leelavathy, who has received multiple honors including the Sahitya Akademi Award, expressed admiration for former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and noted the qualities inherited by Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, representing Wayanad. She donated the prize money to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation.
