Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced two new financial assistance schemes. The 'Babu Achoni' scheme will provide financial support to male students, with eligibility criteria including parental income below Rs 4 lakh and parents not being government employees. Additionally, over 37 lakh women beneficiaries of the 'Orunodoi' scheme will receive an advance 'Bohag Bihu' gift of Rs 3,000, totaling Rs 8,000 with their regular allowance. These announcements come ahead of upcoming assembly elections.
