
The 2026 Panaji Municipal Corporation elections concluded with the BJP-backed panel, led by Atanasio 'Babush' Monserrate, winning 27 of 30 wards, maintaining strong control over the city. The opposition, led by Utpal Parrikar's Ami Panjekar, secured three seats, fewer than in 2021. Voter turnout was 69.07%, with polling held on March 11 and counting on March 13. Incumbent Mayor Rohit Monserrate was re-elected. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant praised the mandate as a vote of confidence in BJP's governance.
