BJP national president Nitin Nabin stated at a rally in Islampur, West Bengal, that if the BJP forms the state government, the town would be renamed Ishwarpur. He accused the current Trinamool Congress government, led by Mamata Banerjee, of allowing illegal Bangladeshi infiltration and obstructing border security measures. Nabin claimed this infiltration threatens local residents' rights and criticized the state government for alleged misgovernance and corruption. The BJP has previously won seats in the North Dinajpur district, where Islampur is located.
