In the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, both daughters of ex-gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli, Geeta and Yogita, lost their respective wards in the Byculla area. Geeta was defeated by Samajwadi Party candidate Amrin Shezad Abrahani in ward 212, while Yogita lost to BJP's Rohidas Lokhande in ward 207. Gawli, recently granted bail after serving over 17 years for a 2007 murder conviction, campaigned for his daughters, but their defeats indicate a decline in the family's political influence. Additionally, Gawli's sister-in-law Vandana Pradeep Gawli also lost her contest on a Shiv Sena ticket.
