
On January 15, the United Arab Emirates ratified the 2014 ILO Protocol to the Forced Labour Convention, becoming the 63rd country globally and the second in the Gulf Cooperation Council to do so. This ratification demonstrates the UAE's commitment to combating forced labour, including human trafficking, by strengthening legal frameworks and protecting migrant workers' rights. The protocol requires states to sanction perpetrators and ensure victims access to justice, aligning with international standards.
