India has finalized a $2.1 billion deal with Italy's WASS Submarine Systems for 48 advanced heavyweight torpedoes to enhance the combat power of its six Calvari-class submarines. These state-of-the-art torpedoes, designed for stealth and long-range engagement, will be delivered between 2028 and 2030. This procurement is part of a larger defense package and aims to significantly upgrade India's underwater strike capabilities, complementing the Make in India initiative for submarine construction.
