External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar began a two-day visit to Brussels to engage with foreign ministers of the 27 European Union member states and EU leadership. This visit follows the historic 16th India-EU Summit in January, where both sides concluded a landmark free trade agreement, expected to come into force in January 2027 after ratification. Discussions will focus on implementing the trade deal and addressing geopolitical issues, including the ongoing West Asia conflict and its impact on energy supplies. Jaishankar also held talks with Gulf and Cyprus officials to strengthen strategic partnerships amid regional tensions.
