Sudha Murty Appeals to Centre for AIIMS Establishment in Karnataka's Raichur District

Nominated Rajya Sabha member Sudha Murty has urged the central government to establish an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Raichur district, Karnataka. She highlighted Raichur's status as a backward district with poor healthcare infrastructure, forcing residents to seek treatment in Hyderabad or Bengaluru. Murty emphasized that setting up AIIMS there would enhance healthcare access, create local employment, and increase student enrollment, noting the region's low literacy rates and historical neglect compared to southern Karnataka.
