A Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee (CEC) will visit Bengaluru's Bannerghatta National Park to assess the ecological impact of a reduced Eco-Sensitive Zone (ESZ). The ESZ, initially proposed at 268.9 sq km in 2016, was significantly reduced in the final 2018 notification. Petitioners allege this reduction was influenced by real estate and mining interests, excluding ecologically sensitive areas like elephant corridors.
