The Khasi Students' Union (KSU) has warned that Meghalaya could become a haven for illegal migrants due to ongoing unrest in Bangladesh and insufficient border controls. Citing historical refugee flows and recent incidents in Bangladesh, the KSU expressed concern over potential marginalization of indigenous communities. They are urging the implementation of an Inner Line Permit system and stronger border monitoring by both central and state governments to safeguard the region's identity and security.
