
The Odisha government has launched a statewide crackdown on illegal cattle smuggling, conducting coordinated raids across five districts including Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Jajpur, Bhadrak, and Khordha. Police seized cash, gold, vehicles, and documents worth over Rs 1.40 crore, with several arrests reported. The campaign aims to dismantle organized smuggling networks and curb related violence, following recent attacks on cattle traders. Officials emphasized strict enforcement of the Orissa Prevention of Cow Slaughter Act, 1960, alongside schemes supporting farmers and cow protection.
