The Punjab government has reduced stamp duty for buyers of properties in cooperative societies from 8% to 1% until January 31, 2026, with rates increasing to 2% in February and 3% in March. Original allottees are exempt from this duty. The relief also includes exemptions from SIC, PIDB, and SIDF charges, while a 1% registration fee remains. Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh highlighted that around 25 cooperative societies with thousands of families will benefit and assured government intervention if registration delays occur.
