Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will now oversee security at India's sea ports, expanding its role beyond airports, Parliament, and critical infrastructure. The CISF has been designated as the nodal agency for drone security, with a new vertical planned by the Ministry of Home Affairs. This move follows the CISF's recognition under the International Ship and Port Facility Security code, making it the safety regulator for around 250 maritime facilities, aiming to enhance maritime safety and support economic growth.
