Uttarakhand authorities have arrested 511 individuals in a statewide crackdown named Operation Kalnemi, targeting fraudsters and imposters operating under religious pretenses. The operation, launched in July 2025, has also led to the detention of 19 Bangladeshi nationals found living illegally in the state. Officials state the campaign aims to protect law and order and the state's spiritual identity, not targeting any specific community. Over 4800 individuals have been verified across Haridwar, Dehradun, and Udham Singh Nagar districts, with strict action promised against illegal foreign nationals.
