Ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami announced a second set of poll promises including a hike in social security pensions from Rs 1,200 to Rs 2,000 for senior citizens, widows, differently-abled persons, and transgenders. The party also pledged waiver of education loans, interest-free loans for minority women entrepreneurs, three free LPG cylinders annually for ration card holders, and compensation for Jallikattu bull tamers in case of injury or death. These promises aim to regain minority support and counter the ruling DMK's welfare initiatives amid challenges within the AIADMK-NDA alliance.
