The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is highlighted as India's wealthiest civic body, with an estimated budget of Rs 59,954.7 crore for FY 2024-25, significantly exceeding those of Delhi and Bengaluru combined. Its revenue, projected at Rs 81,774 crore for FY25, is primarily generated from service fees, licenses, and usage charges, supplemented by government grants, taxes, and investment income. Spending has also increased substantially over the past decade, reaching Rs 44,500 crore in the current fiscal year.
