Authorities in Goa's Pernem taluka sealed the 'Ottello' restaurant, located on land owned by former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar, for illegal construction on a salt pan. The Deputy Collector's order cited that the restaurant and its wooden pathway were built without valid permissions on survey number 52 1 in Arambol village, designated as a water body and salt pan. Parsekar denied wrongdoing, stating he had leased the property to another operator. The order referenced safety concerns following a fatal fire at a nearby nightclub also built on salt pan land.
