Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan alleged that nearly 20 crore Tirupati laddus were made using adulterated ghee between 2019 and 2024. A CBI-led Special Investigation Team found the ghee was produced using palm oil and chemicals, not milk. The investigation identified 36 accused and pointed to a conspiracy involving relaxed tender norms and a syndicate supplying adulterated ghee. The issue has sparked political debate and calls for reforms in procurement and quality control at Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.
