Bombay High Court Orders MMRDA Report After Fatal Mulund Metro Slab Collapse

Following a fatal parapet slab collapse on Mumbai's Metro Line 4 in Mulund on February 14 that killed one person and injured three, police arrested a welder from Uttar Pradesh for allegedly cutting a critical interlocking hook. The total arrests have reached six, including project managers. The Bombay High Court has directed the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to submit a detailed report within two weeks in response to a public interest litigation seeking a third-party safety audit of all metro construction sites and compensation details for victims. The court is also considering the maintainability of the PIL and has been informed that action was taken against the consultant responsible for the incident.
